Installation Requirements

  • Roof pitch: Must be between 2° and 15°. Use the supplied pitch matrix to determine minimum pitch per size.
  • Upstand: Should be weathered and insulated, with dimensions:
    • External = Rooflight size +40 / -20 mm
    • Internal = Rooflight size -150 mm (+30 / -0 mm)
  • Minimum upstand height: 75 mm
  • Thermal caution: Blinds beneath the glazing can increase thermal stress risk. If blinds are used, choose light colours and allow space and airflow.

Installation Overview by Type

Fixed Flat Glass Rooflight

  • Place unit onto prepared builder’s upstand or PVC kerb
  • Seal with silicone/mastic as specified
  • Fix using supplied kerb fasteners (quantity based on unit size)
  • Ensure pitch is built into upstand if required

Manual Opening Flat Glass Rooflight

  • Hinged frame opens upward – support during installation to avoid damage
  • Apply sealant to the inner edge of upstand
  • Fix kerb and frame using supplied fixings
  • Attach worm drive mechanism (manual opener) top and bottom
  • Minimum pitch per size must be followed for drainage and clarity

Powered Opening Flat Glass Rooflight

  • Prepare and seal upstand or kerb as per manual opener
  • Route power cable carefully through the cavity – avoid crushing or bending
  • Install hinges facing upslope and fix securely
  • Connect electrics (wall switch, remote, or rain sensor) — must be done by a qualified electrician
  • Rain sensor (if supplied) should be mounted externally in a rain-prone area
  • All electronics are pre-programmed from the factory

Fixing Guidance

Number of kerb fixings per side based on unit length:

  • ≤ 750 mm: 2 fixings per side
  • 751 – 1200 mm: 3 fixings
  • 1201 – 1650 mm: 4 fixings
  • 1651 – 1950 mm: 5 fixings
  • 1951 – 2250 mm: 6 fixings
  • 2251 – 3000 mm: 7 fixings
