The Mardome Access Hatch Polycarbonate Dome Rooflight is a manually operated rooflight designed to provide high levels of natural daylight while allowing safe and secure access to flat and low-pitch roofs up to 15°. It is suitable for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings where routine roof access is required for maintenance, inspection, or plant servicing.

Manufactured from high-impact, UV-stabilised polycarbonate, the Mardome Access Hatch Polycarbonate Rooflight offers excellent durability, weather resistance, and long-term performance. The lightweight yet robust construction ensures ease of installation while maintaining strength and reliability in exposed roof environments. The unit can be specified for both new-build and refurbishment projects.

Mardome Access Hatch Size Options

The rooflight is available in a wide range of standard rectangular sizes to suit roof layouts, structural openings, and access requirements.

Standard sizes (mm) include combinations of:

Lengths: 900, 1050, 1200, 1350, 1500, 1650, 1800

Widths: 750, 900, 1050, 1200

These sizes allow flexibility for both occasional access hatches and larger openings suitable for regular maintenance access.

Glazing Options

Different glazing options are available to suit thermal performance requirements and building use.

Single skin polycarbonate – Used in unheated or lightly used spaces where maximum daylight transmission is required and thermal performance is less critical.

Double skin polycarbonate – Used in lightly to moderately heated buildings where improved insulation is required while maintaining good light transmission.

Triple skin polycarbonate – Used where improved thermal performance and reduced heat loss are required, such as offices, schools, and residential buildings.

Quad skin polycarbonate – Used where the highest level of insulation is required, helping to minimise heat loss and improve overall energy efficiency.

Tint Options

Tint options are used to control daylight levels, glare, and privacy within the building.

Clear polycarbonate – Used where maximum light transmission is required, such as plant rooms, stairwells, and circulation spaces.

Opal finish – Used to diffuse daylight and reduce glare, creating a more comfortable internal environment in occupied spaces.

Patterned finish – Used where diffused light and increased privacy are required, particularly in residential or urban locations.

Shape Options

The rooflight is available in two low-profile shapes to suit different roof designs and aesthetic requirements.

Low-rise dome – Used for general flat roof applications where efficient rainwater runoff and a simple, cost-effective solution are required.

Low-rise pyramid – Used where improved daylight spread is required across the internal space or where a more architectural appearance is preferred.

Kerb Options

Kerb options are available to suit different roof constructions, insulation build-ups, and exposure levels.

Installation onto a builder’s upstand – Used where a suitable upstand is already formed as part of the roof structure, commonly on refurbishment projects.

150 mm PVC waterproofing kerb – Used for standard flat roof constructions where a factory-manufactured kerb is required for consistent insulation and waterproofing height.

300 mm PVC waterproofing kerb – Used where increased upstand height is required, such as roofs with deep insulation or in more exposed locations.

Opening Options

The Mardome Access Hatch is supplied as a manual access hatch, designed specifically for safe roof access.

Manual opening with locking arms – Provides controlled opening and secure positioning of the lid during access, ensuring user safety and roof security.

Ventilation Options

Ventilation options allow the rooflight to be configured to suit building comfort and moisture control requirements.

Unvented – Used where the rooflight is required solely for daylight and access, offering maximum thermal performance.

Manual trickle ventilation – Used to provide controlled background airflow, helping to reduce condensation and improve internal air quality.

The Mardome Access Hatch Polycarbonate Rooflight is designed for easy and secure installation on flat or low-pitch roofs. It can be mounted onto an existing builder’s upstand or supplied with a Brett Martin insulated kerb for a complete system. The access mechanism operates manually, with secure locking arms for safe positioning.

Installation Guidelines:

  • Designed for use on flat and low-pitched roofs up to 15°.
  • Install on a correctly prepared builder’s upstand or use a compatible Brett Martin insulated kerb.
  • Ensure proper alignment of hinges and locking arms during installation.
  • Glazing must be installed with the UV-resistant layer facing outward (as marked).
  • Manual access hatches should open smoothly and stay securely in the open position using integrated locking arms.
  • Thermal fracture caution: Avoid placing blinds directly beneath the unit; use light-coloured blinds positioned away from the glazing if required.
