The Brett Martin Roof Lantern combines slim sight lines, high performance and rapid installation to deliver a premium glass rooflight solution for modern homes and extensions.

Benefits

  •
  • Stylish glass rooflight with slender aluminium profiles, providing clean sight lines and maximising daylight.
  • Fully thermally broken frame and Low-E double glazing for excellent energy performance and reduced heat loss.
  • Choice of toughened or laminated inner pane; laminated options help protect against falling glass for enhanced overhead safety as recommended by the Rooflight Association.
  • Self-cleaning outer pane helps to reduce maintenance and keep the glass clearer for longer.
  • Designed for rapid installation with pre-fabricated frame sections and no need for site silicone between glazing and frame – only between the roof and the rooflight.
  • Manufactured in the UK to ISO 9001 with an expected service life of up to 20 years in normal conditions and a 10-year warranty on the rooflight, including a 5-year warranty on insulated glass units.

Features

  • Available in 9 standard Roof Lantern sizes from 1500 x 1000mm to 3000 x 2000mm, with bespoke sizes available on request.
  • Contemporary 4-pane layout as standard, with an optional 6-pane layout for a more traditional look or where glass sizes need to be reduced for access.
  • Double-glazed unit build-ups:
    • Toughened inner pane options: clear self-clean or blue solar-control self-clean.
    • Laminated inner pane options: clear/neutral solar-control self-clean or blue solar-control self-clean.
  • Factory-finished aluminium frames powder coated in combinations of:
    • External RAL 7016 grey / internal RAL 9010 white
    • External RAL 7016 grey / internal RAL 9005 black
    • External RAL 9010 white / internal RAL 9010 white
    • External RAL 9005 black / internal RAL 9005 black
  • Designed for simple mounting direct to a weathered builder’s upstand – no separate kerb supplied.
  • Glazing achieves a centre-pane U-value of 1.2 W/m²K; overall lantern Ud-values typically between 1.8 and 2.03 W/m²K depending on size and configuration.

The Brett Martin Roof Lantern is engineered for quick, straightforward installation on flat or low-pitch roofs, mounting directly onto a prepared builder’s upstand.

Installation guidelines

  • Roof Lantern should be installed by competent roofing contractors following Brett Martin’s installation guide and all relevant health & safety legislation.
  • These rooflights should be considered FRAGILE. A risk assessment must be carried out to define appropriate fall-protection measures in line with CDM regulations and Rooflight Association guidance.
  • Install onto a fully insulated and weathered builder’s upstand. The roof covering must dress up the sides and over the top of the upstand with a level, obstruction-free bearing surface.
  • External upstand dimensions should match the ordered rooflight size, with a tolerance of +20 mm / -0 mm in both directions.
  • Minimum upstand height: 150 mm. Minimum upstand width: 85 mm to provide a suitable fixing surface.
  • Suitable for upstand pitches from 0° to 5°. For aesthetic reasons Brett Martin recommend constructing the upstand level (0°); a pitched upstand may result in a “lopsided” appearance.

Laminated vs toughened inner panes

  • Laminated inner panes help prevent glass from falling into the space below if breakage occurs, offering enhanced overhead safety.
  • Toughened inner panes may be used in certain locations subject to a satisfactory risk assessment in accordance with British Standards and Rooflight Association guidance.
  • Where blinds or other fittings are installed in the lightwell, they should be positioned as far as practicable from the glass and preferably in light colours to reduce the risk of thermal stress fracture to laminated glass.
