Brett Martin Daylight Systems has extended its range of rooflight fillers and sealants with the launch of a new filler that shows outstanding performance, verified in a range of tests on all the important physical properties for profiled fillers.
The company used its leading market position to identify a need for a material offering many of the benefits of EPDM, long recognised as the best material available for profiled fillers, without the cost penalty that is associated with it.
An extensive material research program was launched in conjunction with a leading light in the foam material market, which has resulted in development of the innovative new material used exclusively in Supaseal.
Compressibility tests show that the new Supaseal filler is even more flexible than EPDM, ensuring optimum gap-filling capability while minimising the compressive force that is needed – the ideal properties for a profiled filler.
Accelerated weathering tests also demonstrated Supaseal is as durable as EPDM, so the expected lifespan is as good as EPDM (at least 20 years) and better than any grade of polyethylene.
EPDM remains the strongest and heaviest material used for profiled fillers but Supaseal not only matches EPDM in the most critical areas, it was also demonstrated to be superior to the most commonly used material, polyethylene (including Metallocene grades) in every significant area, including compressibility, tensile strength, tear strength, elasticity and durability.
